Planning Board · Meeting of July 27, 2026

Duxbury's Planning Board approved a contested Bay Road accessory dwelling unit and pushed a disputed Chestnut Street case to August. The board voted unanimously to approve an ADU at 508 Bay Road for homeowners Devin and Allison Graham despite objections from abutter Ralph Devaney, who said the project was "infringing on my rights to enjoy my patio and to enjoy my home." Board members said the state's ADU statute left them "very strict" and "strictly limited" authority to deny the application once it met the 15-foot setback. Separately, the board continued a hearing on a second proposed ADU at 161 Chestnut Street to August 17 and extended its decision deadline to September 30, after town counsel determined an existing above-garage apartment already counts as the property's one protected ADU.

The board also endorsed an Approval Not Required plan letting St. Paul's Church of the Nazarene sell off a one-acre parcel on Summer Street.
