Selectboard Appoints Wechsler to School Committee
Duxbury's Selectboard and School Committee jointly appointed Jenna Wechsler to a vacant School Committee seat.
Selectboard · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Duxbury's Selectboard and School Committee jointly appointed Jenna Wechsler to a vacant School Committee seat. Chair Amy M. MacNab oversaw interviews of three candidates — Wechsler, longtime Alden School teacher Priscilla Nisei, and former Latin teacher Carol Ann Callie-Smith — before a voice poll split 4-3-2 in Wechsler's favor among nine voters from both boards.
Both bodies then voted unanimously to formalize the appointment through the next annual election. Selectboard member Brian E. Glennon noted schools account for "more than half the budget in our community." The same meeting produced a unanimous vote endorsing a letter opposing a federal rule, NRC-2025-1140, that would relax radiation limits at the decommissioning Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, and extended, vote-free discussion of the Powder Point Bridge replacement and a prospective Chapter 40B development at the former Miramar property, where Town Manager Rainey said no formal application has yet been filed.
