Selectboard · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Duxbury's Selectboard opened a 30-day public comment period on an updated hazard mitigation plan and got an update complicating the Powder Point Bridge debate. Martin Pillsberry of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council presented the roughly 150-page draft, which lists 25 recommended measures and determines the town's eligibility for FEMA's BRIC mitigation grants; comments are due by October 30 before state and federal review. Selectboard member Brian E.
Glennon said "anybody who walks our trails knows there's a lot of fuel sitting around," pressing for wildfire-risk priority, while Fernando Guitart flagged applying for the BRIC grant again in the plan's third year. The board also reviewed a Federal Highway Administration letter finding the 1986 Powder Point Bridge is not eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, and postponed further discussion. The board voted unanimously to call the November 3 state election and set early-voting hours from October 17 through 30.
