Duxbury Selectboard approved a seawall easement license policy and joined a regional hazardous waste depot pact.
Selectboard · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Duxbury Selectboard approved a seawall easement license policy and joined a regional hazardous waste depot pact. The board, chaired by Amy M. MacNab, voted unanimously to let beachfront owners keep stairs and other seasonal structures within the town's seawall easement, giving residents until October 31 to comply.
Resident Mr. Sheehan objected that homeowners are "paying for something that has always been free," while Vice Chair Fernando Guitart called the policy a compromise allowing "some use during a specific period of time." Separately, the board voted unanimously to join a 12-town intermunicipal agreement for a permanent household hazardous waste depot in Hanover, becoming the fourth town to sign. South Shore Recycling Cooperative's Claire Kalkowski said Duxbury's annual cost would rise about $2,400, to roughly $11,000, in exchange for seven collection days a year instead of six, including new summer and winter access.
