DUXBURY — The Duxbury Zoning Board of Appeals approved a special permit for a raise-and-rebuild at 105 Gurnett Road and ruled a developer's bid to strip sidewalks from Fieldstone Farm is a substantial change requiring a new hearing. Engineer Gregory Morse of Morse Engineering, representing applicant Lauren Degnan, said the replacement home would grow to 2,766 square feet from 2,430, sit on a FEMA-compliant elevated foundation, and land at the exact median of 16 nearby properties' floor areas. The board voted 6-0 to close the hearing and 6-0 to approve the permit, tied to plans dated July 16 and July 30, 2026.
Separately, WB Builders' Steve McCarthy said interior sidewalks near Eversource utility boxes should go, citing an unused sidewalk pattern in a Weymouth 55-and-over community; a board member countered with a town planner's email stating "Duxbury desperately needs more sidewalks, not fewer." The board voted 5-0 that the change is substantial. Three related seawall-area deck cases were continued to December 10.
